Don’t Tread On Me.
It was our battle cry; we rallied in pursuit of freedom.
Our rights do come from our Creator. But they’re an unfulfilling construct, a shadow of something greater.
The deeper truth is we don’t have rights at all, and never have. Instead there’s a greater freedom: we’ve been given undeserved love.
Perfect love casts out fear—including the fear that we will lose our rights. Because where love exists, rights are trivial, inadequate, archaic.
Don’t Tread On Me isn’t even half the story. We no longer have to lie alone, a snake in the grass, fearfully waiting, ready to strike any who threaten. We will rise, reborn like the phoenix, to new life with the redeemed, the restored, shaking off what’s old, victorious because of victorious love.
We have been, and are, and will be, set free by the one who called us to life.
We have hope: we will live in freedom deeper than anything we have yet imagined.
We have a promise: nothing can stand against his love.
We have an anthem: a new power has cleared the air.
We Are Set Free.
“A new power is in operation. The Spirit of life in Christ, like a strong wind, has magnificently cleared the air, freeing you from a fated lifetime of brutal tyranny at the hands of sin and death.”
